While maintaining good personal hygiene may help with keeping the worst effects of your psoriasis from flaring, you may like to know about natural shampoos which can be beneficial for people who have to suffer from Seborrheic Psoriasis – this is the form of psoriasis which affects the scalp, hairline and sometimes the forehead too – to this end you may be interested in the following natural treatments which focus on the head.
Marigold Shampoo
For this treatment you will need to use 4 fresh marigold heads. Once you have collected the flower heads place them in a pan. Measure out 4 cups of water and pour over the flower heads. Boil this water and marigold mixture for about 2 minutes. After 2 minutes remove the pan from the heat and carefully strain the liquid into a large bowl. Allow this liquid mix to cool down. Once it has become cooled take about 5 to 6 tablespoons of the lotion into your palm and massage it into your scalp. Keep for about 30 minutes so that the shampoo has enough time to work on the psoriasis. After the 30 minute period wash your hair with a mild shampoo. It is preferable that you use a shampoo which doesn’t contain laurel sulfite. To add some further life to your scalp you can add some lemon juice or cider vinegar to the rinsing water. Use this treated rinsing water to ensure that you totally wash out the Marigold lotion.
Jojoba Oil Scalp Massage
As you know Jojoba oil is a natural oil which has properties which are similar to your skin’s natural sebum levels. You can use this oil to moisturize and soften your skin. You have the choice of using Jojoba by itself or with other skin blends. For this soothing scalp oil massage what you will need is pure unadulterated jojoba oil and a towel.
First place the towel over your shoulders. Pour about 5 to 6 tablespoons of jojoba oil onto your palm and rub this oil carefully into your scalp. Make sure that you get all of the affected areas as this will help in reducing the psoriasis on your scalp. Keep the jojoba oil on your head for about 30 minutes as this will increase the chances the oil has of seeping into the thickened skin of the psoriasis and taking effect. Do not become impatient to wash the oil off as you will undo all of the good the oil has done in this time period.
In order to get the most benefit you should wash your hair thoroughly with a mild shampoo which should not contain any sign of laurel sulfite. Repeat the treatment if you feel that it is necessary. To get the maximum effect try to wash your scalp and hair with jojoba oil about 3 to 4 times weekly.
Olive Oil Massage
If you are suffering from psoriasis scales on your scalp you will find that massaging your scalp with some warm olive oil to be one of the best options that you can take. For this treatment you will need to warm some olive oil. Take some of this oil and massage it gently into your scalp thoroughly. This will help to soften the scales so that you can remove them with no problems. After this you should use a mild shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
