Natural remedies have properties which may also give you some relief from your condition. Before you do try these various remedies you will need to remember that while these treatments do use natural products in them, some of these products will not work with your skin nor will they provide any health benefits to curing your psoriasis. The best way to find out if there are any complications – like a skin rash or allergy – is for you to do a small sample test. This test which can be used with the various treatments described here will allow you to see the results of your chosen natural treatment before you use the treatment for your entire body.
To make sure that you will not be allergic to any treatment or develop a rash you should first make a small batch of your chosen treatment. Then carefully apply this treatment – a cream, lotion or soothing waters – to a small infected part of the skin. The best place to try this test is on a psoriasis affected skin which you can see without any difficulty when you hold your hands up. Leave the solution on your skin for about 5 to 15 minutes – or until there is a reaction – before you wash the solution off.
At this point you should make a note of how the solution affected you.
Did you feel cold, feel like scratching your skin even more than previously or did you feel the pain subsiding and your skin feeling somewhat cooler? You will also need to look for any physical reactions your body will display if you become allergic to a treatment. As with any of these natural treatments there is one final point to make.
While you my be tempted to make a large batch of some of these natural remedies to keep and use for a long period of time, don’t as some of the healing properties can become lost when they are constantly exposed to air. You also need to understand that natural remedies work best and are most effective when they are freshly made and used. So keep these facts in mind if you feel tempted to make and store the various natural remedies for the next time.
There are a few natural remedies which can be made and kept for a few days to a week. Before making a large enough batch do the sample test to see if your skin can tolerate the remedy. Calendula, Olive and Oregano Oil Rub In this part you will look at various natural remedies that you can use to soothe your skin from the itching and pain which many psoriasis sufferers are well acquainted with.
For this treatment you will need to use Olive oil, Oregano oil and some Calendula oil. What you will need to do is to find a small cup that you will not be using for food or beverages and carefully pour a bit of Olive oil into the cup. To this add 2 drops of Calendula oil and then 1 drop of Oregano oil. Mix these oils together until well mixed. Take some of the rub mixture and carefully rub it on to the areas which are affected.
Allow the rub to stay on until it has been completely absorbed into your skin. You can use this rub recipe as many times as you desire. But do make sure that you make only enough of the oil rub as required for one application at a time. Wheat Germ Oil and Castor Oil In this remedy you will be using wheat germ and castor oil to the affected parts of your skin. The mixture should consist of one part wheat germ oil and two parts castor oil. Mix these oils well until they have combined thoroughly. Apply for a few months. Chamomile Flowers and Burdock Seeds
The next remedy that you can try involves using dried Burdock seed, and Chamomile flowers. What you will need to do is to take about 25 grams of Burdock seed and Chamomile flowers. Simmer these items in 600 ml of water for about 15 minutes. Once the flower and seeds have been fully simmered, remove from the heat and strain the mixture with a clean cloth into a large bowl. Next add some honey to sweeten the decoction and pour into a clean bottle. Store this decoction in the refrigerator until needed. To use this remedy you will need to take 3 tablespoons of the decoction about 3 to 4 times a day on a regular basis. This will help soothe your skin while at the same time cleansing your insides and helping to correct any imbalances which help to further aggravate your psoriasis.

Aromatherapy
Yes it is, if the massage is confined to normal skin. Massage can be very relaxing, and this can help you cope with having psoriasis. You should avoid having any large plaques massaged as the friction and oils may irritate the skin. Areas where the skin is simply dry will benefit from the moisturising effect of the oils. As with other techniques that involve touch, this in itself can be very enjoyable if you find that other people tend to recoil from touching you when they see your psoriasis.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a massage therapy that uses acupuncture points on the feet that represent different parts of the body. The feet are massaged with talcum powder, and you do not need to take any other clothes off if you are self-conscious about your skin. Again, the contact can in itself be beneficial, and it is another good way to relax and feel more able to cope with having psoriasis. This in itself seems able to influence the disease as a positive attitude can help your body to fight it.
